Hours: 36-40 hours, including two Saturdays per month
Pay Rate: $17.31/hour

For over 20 years, we have been an expert resource for breastfeeding support by providing community outreach and education, lactation consultations, support groups, breast pumps, and breastfeeding supplies in Nebraska and surrounding areas.

Job Summary
The Breastfeeding Educators (BEs) at MilkWorks will greet clients & customers, schedule consultation appointments, collect insurance information (where applicable), help parents with drop in weight checks, provide general breastfeeding information, provide education on breast pumps/breastfeeding supplies, and support mission related retail.
Essential Duties & Requirements
- Maintain a basic working knowledge of human lactation and breastfeeding and nutritional needs of infants and nursing women.
- Approach and assist clients in a comfortable, compassionate and friendly manner.
- Schedule appointments and check in clients for lactation consultations.
- Assist parents with drop in weight checks.
- Support and educate mothers on the use of their personal use pump, breastfeeding supplies and how to fit a nursing bra.
- Be familiar with and provide general breastfeeding information utilizing MilkWorks protocols, Breastfeeding Information Center (BIC) handouts, and LC handouts.
- Process insurance breast pump transactions and assist patients with insurance forms; ensure the forms are completed correctly and entirely for insurance reimbursement.
- Collect insurance information including insurance cards and pump prescriptions.
- Enter patient demographic information and insurance information into MilkWorks PM/EHR software.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to appointments.
- Follow up with patients to resolve issues with insurance eligibility and verification.
- Collect payments as necessary for services provided, co-pays, and retail transactions.
- Facilitate MilkWorks classes and support groups including class instruction, checking class roster, and distributing class surveys.
- Unbox, count, and tag retail items in a timely manner when new orders are received. Report any discrepancies to the appropriate retail staff.
- Complete daily pump inventory checks and assist in bi-annual full inventory counts, as needed.
- Clean and restock consultation rooms between appointments.
- Clean retail space, community access areas, and staff common areas and ensure that trash and recycling is taken out daily.

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Exceptional interpersonal skills
- Must be detail oriented, conscientious, and able to follow through
- Demonstrated strength in working with computer software, e.g., MS Office Suite, PowerPoint, scan, fax and email
- Must be well organized and possess excellent communication skills
- Must be able to adjust tasks in accordance with changing deadlines, emergency calls and priorities
- Must be authorized to work in the United States and pass a background check
